Manufacturing Technician

The Manufacturing Technician will work closely with the Senior Manufacturing Engineer (SME) on projects to drive improvements in KPI’s -quality, cost, capacity, and efficiency. The Manufacturing Engineering Technician will also assist in the design, development, and implementation of new manufacturing processes and equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the identification and development of new manufacturing processes and their implementation.
  • Review manufacturing processes and verify process and equipment capacities for individual processes, departments, and the overall facility.
  • Responsible for the gathering of data from their part of the manufacturing process and reporting it to the SME.
  • Work closely with Product Engineering, Quality and Production teams to take manufacturing efficiency improvements from initial concept into full implementation.
  • Assist engineering team with testing, processes, and procedures.
  • Analyze manufacturing problems and develop alternative approaches to their solution.
  • Assist with preparing production documents such as standard operating procedures, manufacturing records, productivity reports and BOM’s.
  • Assist with process improvement, quality, productivity, and cost reduction projects.
  • Assist with root cause investigations and implement systemic corrective actions and processes.
  • Assist with the development and/or revisions to product manufacturing standards.
  • Support root cause analysis and the development of timely solutions for issues arising on current products and in the production processes.
  • Work closely with Production teams to develop and track material yields (i.e. metal, foam, etc.).
  • Provide technical support for Production team.
  • Maintain plant layouts and produce technical drawings, as required.
  • Perform process analysis, DOE, P/FMEA, line balancing and capacity modeling.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layouts.
  • Research and recommend new technologies and processes for adoption.
  • Perform data analysis to identify trends and potential areas for improvements.
  • Analyze manufacturing problems and develop alternative approaches to their solution.
  • Promotes and maintains a safe work environment.
  • All other related duties or projects, as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

  • Must have a good understanding of lean manufacturing, production processes and quality control.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or industrial engineering or a related field.
  • 3 or more years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role.
  • Low volume manufacturing and automation experience.
  • Understanding of manufacturing process design.
  • Experience with DFM, PFMEA, Lean/ Six Sigma fundamentals.
  • Understanding of manufacturing management processes including BOM, ERP, and resource and capacity.
  • Advanced computer skills, including a strong knowledge of Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and Excel.
  • Project management skills.
  • Experience with ISO 9001.
  • Ability to take initiative and problem solve.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From $48,000.00 per year
