Role Summary

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be part of a growing team in a fast-paced production environment. This role will focus on sanitation activities outside of the daily operations sanitations to help maintain the cleanliness of the manufacturing areas and adjoining facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the master cleaning schedule to maintain cleanliness and constant sanitation of production and storage areas
  • Keep accurate records of all cleaning performed
  • Report any unsanitary practices that may be occurring in the plant and work with supervisors to create solutions
  • Clean and sanitize common areas, sweep/mop floors, clean overhead structures such as pipes, cleaning and scrubbing walls, and other surfaces, etc.
  • Collect garbage and recycling, and dispose of them as required
  • Assist in cleaning some packaging equipment and the surrounding areas
  • Restock supplies in lunchroom and washroom areas
  • Adhere to all safety and processing procedures while maintaining a clean and safe environment
  • Ensure all safety requirements are met including the use of personal protective equipment, WHMIS, lockout/tag-out procedures, and chemical mixing precautions
  • Comply with government regulations relating to food processing facilities
  • Utilize powerlifting equipment, power washers, floor scrubbers, ladders, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Previous sanitation experience preferred
  • A keen eye for cleanliness and experience with the safe use of chemicals
  • Knowledgeable in sanitation procedures (production equipment cleanup/setup, and building services)
  • Experience in manufacturing or warehouse environment preferred
  • Able to obtain a forklift license upon hire
  • Able to work independently and contribute to team success
  • Good verbal communication and understanding of written materials (SOPs and training documents)
  • Attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  • Adaptable to change and open to improving work practices
  • Problem solving and decision making skills
  • Have the desire and drive to learn new skills and become a key team member at Equals
  • Have full ownership of the process and the ability to follow and develop consistent procedures
  • Be a self-starter and always look for opportunities to improve and maintain the safety and cleanliness of the brewery

Working Conditions

  • May be required to work day, evening, and overnight shifts. Shift length varies between 8-12 hours depending on brewery needs. This position will focus on the day shift.
  • Be able to lift up to 60 lbs on a frequent basis
  • Fast-paced work environment that involves frequent standing, bending, twisting, crawling, kneeling, squatting, climbing, reaching, grasping, and stair climbing
  • Work environment can be loud with heavy machinery, and temperatures can fluctuate
