Melt shop operator
Melt Shop Operator will be responsible for the operation of the melting furnace and pouring molten metal into holding tanks. Melt shop operator will collect material samples from the furnace and holding tanks in the Foundry area, providing an overall service and support to the Die cast machine production area.
WAge: $23.12/hr

Qualifications:
Ability to follow instructions and prioritize tasks, safe forklift operation, previous work in a die casting, foundry or similar atmosphere, able to work as a team, strong attention to detail, able to work shift work, able to work in hot temperatures, working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Essential Skills & Competencies:
Knowledge of 5S, Basic computer skills for inputting data, Troubleshooting machine issues.
Work Experience:
Material Handling experience 1 year preferred

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
| Duties: | ||||||||
| · Load main Melt Furnace as required | ||||||||
| · Track scrap and raw ingot usage as instructed | ||||||||
| · Retrieve scrap from die cast machines | ||||||||
| · Dross furnaces as per job instructions | ||||||||
| · Perform tap-outs as required and deliver molten material to die cast machines | ||||||||
| · Collect material samples from furnace and holding tanks as per job instructions (once per shift) | ||||||||
| · Operate equipment following safe work practices (wear proper PPE, lockout tagout) | ||||||||
| · Perform tasks assigned by VSL | ||||||||
| · Maintain a clean and organized work environment | ||||||||
| · Perform various inspections as per melt shop checklist | ||||||||
| · Safely operate ladle preheater | ||||||||
| · Operate main melt furnace as per job instructions | ||||||||
| · Degas molten aluminum | ||||||||
| · Exchange bottles as required (argon, propane) | ||||||||
| · Empty Dross Bins (designated bin outside) | ||||||||
| · Complete Autonomous maintenance as per schedule | ||||||||
