Industrial Electrician / Controls

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Troubleshoot, check, inspect, repair, maintain, commission, test, service electrical systems including PLC’S and related electrical controls, devices, and equipment.
  • Interact with employees at all levels of the organization while reporting to the Maintenance Manager.
  • PLC troubleshooting and programming for large automation production lines, both on shop floor and remote interaction. Allen Bradley, Siemens, and Beckhoff.
  • Install, wire, and trouble shoot new and existing equipment.
  • Maintain and repair all plant equipment and systems.
  • Be willing to work in a hands-on environment.
  • Ensure compliance with the Ontario electrical code.
  • Navigating and creating standard PLC structures and programming for PLC’s.
  • PLC interfacing and programming control for integration of FANUC robots, MIG welding, laser cutting robotic applications, and Vision assisted welding.
  • Integrate safe machine control using safety PLC structure and architectural design.
  • Utilize AutoCAD to design, and provide support for reading, modifying, and understanding machine design content.
  • Network interfacing for on-machine and plant communication using Ethernet, IO link, Profibus.
  • Programming data collection flow and archiving historical data for analysis.
  • HMI programming for machine interface.
  • Programming and troubleshooting motion control and VFD applications.
  • Mechanical and pneumatic support as related to a controls process.
  • Understand conventional and servo hydraulic systems for piercing and forming processes.
  • Follow and abide by all government regulations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction activities.
  • Maintain safety standards of equipment and work area and perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with the safety policies.
  • Work with and train apprentices, helpers, and assigned contractors.
  • Assists in developing and/or updating preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Conduct all activities in a professional manner and positive attitude with emphasis on personal responsibility.
  • Interact with the team members running the line to look for improvements or ideas to improve your/their job/task and improve line safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Preventative maintenance of equipment – identify weakness in design and implement improvements. Take pride in workmanship and when performing skilled work develop procedures to educate and train other team members performing the same work.
  • Evaluate and improve our processes for uptime and repeatability.
  • Evaluate downtime situations for root cause and suggest/implement improvements in conjunction with Production Team Members. (Resolve the issue once root cause has been established / Joint decision production and maintenance)
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned.

 

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Secondary school diploma or high school equivalent as a minimum
  • Must be a certified Electrician.
  • Must have 3-5 years of related industrial experience.
  • Experience in high-level automation manufacturing
  • Experience and training with PLCs and robotics would be an asset.
  • Maintain a level of education necessary to keep pace with new manufacturing technology and company requirements. 
  • Must have willingness to learn and work with others in a team environment.
  • Knowledge and experience with hydraulics and related components, pneumatics, welding, gearboxes, conveyors, motor alignment, chain and belt drives, and overhead cranes.
  • Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of ISO / IATF procedures
  • Must be a self-starter and carry out all the job functions with minimal supervision.
  • Provide quality operational repairs and preventative maintenance services.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code.
  • Ability to utilize AutoCAD to design and modify machine design content.
  • PLC troubleshooting and knowledge of PLC controls
  • Ability to install new equipment and setup / troubleshoot.
