Pharmaceutical Mfg GU/CU/Encaps Operator

Strathroy, Ontario is one of two sites located in Canada offering softgel development and manufacturing capabilities for the Pharmaceutical and Consumer Health industries. We have a broad range of integrated formulation, manufacturing, analytical and packaging services to offer full-service turnkey solutions.

 

Position Summary

 

Reporting to the Department Supervisor, this position either: (a) produces Gel, Fill, and cleans equipment in Utility. This role involves verifying and dispensing and compounding raw materials, cleaning of equipment and operating equipment in accordance with master production batch records, standard operating procedures and safety requirements to produce quality products ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices OR (b) set-up and operate the encapsulation machines, as per standard operating procedures and safety requirements, producing consistent, good quality product in accordance with master batch production records and Standard Operating Procedures ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices

 

Shifts: 12-hour Continental Shifts

Pay: Starts at $22.97 per hour currently offering $0.50 wage premium and an additional $1.50 premium for night shift

 

The Role

  • Verifying and dispensing of raw materials, using the appropriate scales, and verifying and or performing scale logs for completion

  • Sets up, operate, and cleans appropriate equipment as instructed in the MBPR and standard operating procedures, producing good quality product and drain into appropriate tanks or receivers

  • Weighs and transports tanks/receivers to their staging area as dictated by the area production schedule

  • Manufactures gelatin according to MBPR and confirms process parameters for temperature, color, batch number, and receiver sequences for the order ensuring appropriate quantities as required

  • Disassembly, clean, and assemble equipment as per SOPs. Equipment includes but not limited to receivers, tanks, lids, stainless steel pots, tumbler baskets, encapsulation parts, packaging parts

  • Sets up the encapsulation machines and operates them according to SOP, producing good quality product. Required activities involve (but are not limited to) checking fill and shell weights, measuring seam integrity, changing fill and gel tanks/receivers, and performing any necessary corrective adjustments

  • Spreads capsules on trays, checking capsules as spreading for defects, compiles trays of product in to stacks, labels, and transfers the stacks to the assigned drying tunnel

  • Confirms all gelatin and fill tanks conform to temperature, color, batch number, and receiver sequences for the order before placed on machine, following corrective actions if necessary

  • Monitoring encapsulation machine and capsules though out the shift for any issues and correcting as needed

 

The Candidate

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent

  • Additional education would be considered an asset

  • Two (2) years of experience in a manufacturing, pharmaceutical and/or GMP facility an asset.

  • Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.

  • Ability to work independently, as required, and complete daily activities according to schedule.

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills

  • Strong mathematical skills, to compute simple calculations (adding, subtraction, percentages, rounding numbers, converting weights measurements).

  • Process a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy

  • The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard.

  • Use of manual dexterity is required.

  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, bend, or twist, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

  • There is also the potential exposure to chemicals.
