The Opportunity

Medicom is seeking a motivated Mechatronic Engineering Intern to join our team for a 4-month internship starting May 2026.

In this role, you will support the engineering and project teams with automation projects and commissioning activities within a manufacturing environment. The role provides hands-on exposure to project coordination, supplier sourcing, and production line start-up while contributing to the testing and implementation of automated systems.

This posting is for a newly created internship position to support our growing manufacturing operations.

What You Will Do
  • Support the engineering and project teams with day-to-day project and automation activities.
  • Assist with the identification and sourcing of local suppliers.
  • Support the design, coordination, and follow-up of automation projects.
  • Participate in production line commissioning activities.
  • Assist with I/O testing and system verification.
  • Support manual and automatic operation testing of automated equipment. Assist with troubleshooting and implementing corrections to automated systems.
  • Help prepare documentation, reports, and project updates as required.

May include other related duties as required, provided such duties are reasonable and consistent with the employee’s qualifications and role responsibilities.

What You Bring
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronic, Automation, Mechanical or a related field.
  • Currently enrolled in a co-op program through a recognized post-secondary institution and eligible to complete a full-time work term
  • Basic understanding of machine design principles
  • Familiarity with 3D design software.
  • Basic knowledge of automation technologies (e.g., PLCs, sensors) and their integration into machine design.
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Available to work full-time (Monday–Friday) on-site at our London, Ontario manufacturing facility for the duration of the internship

Assets

  • Previous internship, co-op, or academic project in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Compensation

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $23 to $25 per hour.
