Overall Responsibility:
The Human Resources Coordinator supports the Human Resources department by delivering high-quality administrative, coordination, and customer service support. This role assists with HR operations—including recruitment, onboarding, time and attendance, health and safety activities, and employee relations—while also providing general office administration support to ensure efficient daily operations within a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment.
Key Accountabilities
Accountabilities:
Human Resources Support
- Support full-cycle recruitment activities, including job postings, scheduling interviews, conducting reference checks, and preparing onboarding documentation.
- Maintain and update HR systems (e.g., UKG, OneHRIS) with accuracy and confidentiality.
- Assist with administering employee programs such as training, health & safety initiatives, disability management (STD, LTD), and return-to-work processes.
- Coordinate and maintain training records, certifications, and employee files.
- Respond to employee inquiries promptly while maintaining positive employee relations.
- Support HR Manager with initiatives that foster a fair, respectful, and engaged workplace culture.
Office & Administrative Support
- Oversee general office management including ordering office supplies, PPE, and coordinating catering or meeting logistics.
- Greet visitors, manage front-desk responsibilities, and ensure adherence to visitor protocols.
- Support coordination of employee engagement events and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
- Assist with time and labour management, including vacation tracking, weekly timesheet review, and overtime verification.
- Prepare reports, correspondence, and other administrative documents as required.
- Perform other administrative duties to support plant operations and HR leadership.
Compliance & Quality
- Ensure adherence to applicable employment legislation, including Ontario HR and Health & Safety regulations.
- Support compliance with internal HSE Management Standards, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 requirements.
- Assist in maintaining documentation in line with IATF 16949 and internal Quality Management Systems.
- Safeguard the confidentiality of all employee information.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 0–5 years of experience in Human Resources or office administration (manufacturing environment preferred).
- Familiarity with Ontario employment legislation and health & safety standards.
- HR designation (or working toward one) is considered an advantage.
Skills
- Working knowledge of HRIS platforms and Time & Attendance modules (UKG preferred).
- Microsoft Excel and Office Suite proficiency, particularly Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
- Strong written, verbal, and reading communication skills
- Understanding of health, safety, and environmental systems
- Knowledge of HR processes and Ontario HR legislation
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Problem-solving and analytical thinking
- Positive, professional, and service-oriented attitude
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
- Teamwork and collaborative mindset
