PowerCo Canada is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Co-op Student from an Electrical Engineering program to join our IT Infrastructure team. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in cutting-edge technologies such as private 5G networks, cybersecurity frameworks, and IT/OT infrastructure integration.
This position is in-person and located in the charming town of St. Thomas ON. This is an 8-month co-op opportunity.
- Assist in evaluating and comparing private 5G vendors, technologies, and antenna systems (active/passive).
- Analyze investment and operational costs, complexity, and manageability.
- Contribute to the development of a Proof of Concept (PoC) for private 5G deployment.
- Collaborate with PowerCo Canada’s Cybersecurity Team to support the design, architecture, and implementation of robust cybersecurity controls and frameworks.
- Contribute to the development and application of industry best practices to secure both IT systems and Shopfloor (Operational Technology) infrastructure across the facility.
- Collect and analyze technical data to support decision-making.
- Prepare technical reports, comparison matrices, and presentation materials.
- Reduce workload on the core team by supporting research and documentation tasks.
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Electrical Engineering or a related field with an 8 month co-op program.
- Strong interest in IT infrastructure, wireless communication, and cybersecurity.
- Excellent analytical, research, and documentation skills.
- Familiarity with networking concepts, wireless technologies, or cybersecurity is an asset.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or in a team.
