Job Description
The manufacturing/industrial engineering is responsible for:
• overseeing the technical development for the manufacturing of products through their lifecycle
• provide support to leads and operators in the assembly and/or fabrication areas
• Plan, structure and implement manufacturing programs
• Provide engineering quotes for new business
• Industrializing new products and deploying new manufacturing processes
• Ensuring products, tools and equipment operate correctly and safely
• Support manufacturing assembly and fabrication to troubleshoot both assembly and fabrication problems
• Improve process efficiencies, line balancing, capacity planning
• Improve plant layout & material flow, and work cell layouts
• Improve ergonomics & safety
Main Function Responsibilities
• Maintain, control and log customer drawings and documents
• Setup new products and BoMs in ERP and MRP software applications
• Perform time studies and improve labor standards
• Improve line balancing and capacity planning
• Lead plant layout and material flow improvements
• Improve ergonomics and safety
• Support product material compliance (REACH, RoHs, and TSCA)
• Support building improvements and maintenance
• Support tools & equipment improvements and maintenance
• Assist with production planning and control
• Create 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings
• Develop and prepare sketches and write technical reports
• Create and implement engineering changes (ECRs, ECOs and ECNs)
• Create and maintain manufacturing processes, plans, work instructions, and procedures
• Plan and implement new production processes and train operators
• Design and create manufacturing fixtures, jigs, and tools
• Review and disposition quality non-conformances
• Assist and resolve manufacturing issues
• Discuss and solve complex problems with manufacturing departments, sub-contractors, suppliers and customers
• Assist with engineering projects – deployment/industrialization
• Ensure products are made reliably and will perform consistently in specified operating environments
• Participate and lead continuous improvement projects
• Other tasks assigned by the Engineering Manager
Job Requirements
• Must have a bachelor's degree in Industrial engineering, Mechanical engineering, Aerospace, Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Design Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical and Energy Engineering or a related engineering degree
• Must be eligible to meet the requirements from Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP)
• Registered Professional Engineering certification (P. Eng) in Ontario is an asset
• 2-4 years of relevant manufacturing engineering experience
• Experience in military and/or aerospace industry is an asset
• Experience in fluid conveyance systems is an asset
• Proficient in Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks
• Proficient in MS Office – Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, etc…
• Ability to create and maintain production layouts
• Knowledgeable in inventory management, product data management, monitoring production control and cost, and in manufacturing resource planning
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing
• Must be capable of initiating improvement projects resulting in labor, material, space, manpower, and/or other measurable cost reductions.
• Should be familiar with company policies regarding worker safety and have demonstrated the ability to identify and resolve safety issues in the workplace.

• Ability to develop and prepare sketches and write technical reports
• Ability to interpret specifications, prepare contracts, estimate costs and materials
• Ability to complete documentation packages and drawing sets, examine drawings for conformity and errors
• English fluency with excellent oral and written communication skills
• Precise and concise written communication skills
• Must be able to interact successfully with engineering, and all other departments.
• Must be able to assume a leadership position in regard to lean manufacturing
• Must be able to function as part of a Product Development Team.
• 2+ years of industrial engineering or related experience
• 1-2 years experience in Hydraulic, Military and/or Aerospace industry is an asset
• Machining, welding and brazing knowledge is an asset
• Tube bending and processing knowledge is an asset

• This position requires extended periods of sitting while working with computers and viewing computer monitors and other office equipment. Finger dexterity needed in using misc. office equipment such as telephone, computer and copy machine, etc. Bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting up to approximately twenty pounds are required during tasks related to the job.
• The primary work environment includes office setting with moderate office noise
• The secondary work environment includes a production floor where PPE is required
• International and/or Domestic travel may be required for training, and meeting customers or suppliers. Up to 5% of the time.
Must be available to work during regular business hours:
Mon-Thurs: 8:00am – 4:30pm
Fri: 8:00am – 2:00pm
Salary Range: $65,000-$75,000
This position involves working with controlled goods and is subject to Canada's Controlled Goods Program (CGP) regulations. As a result, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents who meet the necessary security clearance requirements.
