Summary
The Die Cast Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring die casting machines and related equipment to produce high-quality components in accordance with production targets and quality standards. This role includes performing inspections, completing basic maintenance tasks, and accurately recording production data. The successful candidate will follow all safety procedures, standard work instructions, and 5S principles while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate die casting machines and associated equipment in accordance with standard work instructions and production requirements.
- Follow all safe work practices, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Perform tasks as assigned by the Production Supervisor and/or Setter.
- Conduct part inspections in accordance with job instructions and quality standards.
- Identify and report defects, abnormalities, or equipment issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Complete Autonomous Maintenance (AM) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) tasks during the shift.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in accordance with 5S principles.
- Accurately record production data in the Aprol Production system.
- Support achievement of production targets and operational goals.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) regulations.
- Comply with ISO, IATF, and customer-specific quality requirements.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the production area.
Preferred Skills
- Experience operating die casting machines or similar manufacturing equipment.
- Familiarity with quality inspection processes and production standards.
- Basic troubleshooting skills in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with TPM, Autonomous Maintenance, or 5S practices.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong awareness of safety practices in industrial settings.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, foundry, or similar environment is considered an asset.
- Ability to work rotating shifts and in high-temperature environments.
- Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OH&S).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Physical ability to perform job duties, including standing, lifting, and repetitive tasks.
