As a Head Brewer at Equals Brewing Company, you will lead the Brewing Department’s daily operations, ensuring the seamless execution of the production schedule and supporting a safe, high-performing team. You'll focus on delivering high-quality beer and beverages, collaborating with other departments, and supporting customer product development projects.

What You’ll Do
The Head Brewer plays a critical role in ensuring the brewing team meets production goals while maintaining exceptional quality and safety standards. This leadership role supports the continuous improvement of brewing operations and fosters a positive and proactive team culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accountable for the safety of the brewing team and supporting site-wide safety initiatives
- Lead brewing operations by scheduling work across wort production and cellar activities
- Ensure packaging department has product ready at all times; escalate expected downtime proactively if unavoidable
- Own brewing KPIs and drive improvements in yields, throughput, and quality issues
- Plan and execute efficient completion of routine and non-routine brewing and cellaring tasks
- Problem-solve issues relating to production schedules, liquid quality, or labour
- Support weekly scheduling by contributing to the Supply Chain team’s planning process
- Provide break/fix support for minor brewing equipment issues and issue work orders when needed
- Update and issue SOPs, ensuring team training and sign-off
- Initiate corrective action reports (CARs) related to downtime or quality triggers
- Collaborate with customers to develop and scale new liquid formulations
- Oversee in-process fermentation and aging activities, taking appropriate action based on recipes
- Respond to out-of-specification results and implement improvements to prevent recurrence
- Perform sensory evaluations of in-process and finished beer for quality sign-off
- Support operations and teams across the site as needed
- Other duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For
- Education in Brewing, Distilling, Food Sciences, Brewery Operations, Brewing Science, Chemistry, Food Production, Microbiology, or a related field is an asset
- Highly detail-oriented with strong documentation practices and accurate data entry skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to effectively manage time, stay organized, and prioritize tasks
- Commitment to routine execution of critical tasks
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Professional communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across departments and with customers
- Proficient in computer applications such as Google Sheets, Docs, and email
- Experience in a Team Lead or Supervisory capacity within brewing or related industries
What to Expect
- Primarily day shift Monday-Friday, with flexibility to support off-shifts and weekends as required
- Fast-paced work environment. Combination of office and production floor setting, with heavy machinery and loud noise levels
- Ability to lift items up to 25 kg. Standing, walking, bending, and lifting as needed

Pay: $65,000.00-$72,000.00 per year
