Role Description The Process Control Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in London, ON. This position is responsible for monitoring and optimizing process control systems to support reliable, efficient, and sustainable operations in Aspire’s insect technology and farming facilities. Day-to-day tasks include configuring and maintaining control systems, analyzing production data, diagnosing process variations, and implementing corrective actions to improve performance and consistency. The specialist collaborates closely with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to ensure instrumentation is calibrated and functioning, and that advanced process control strategies are properly designed and deployed. The role also involves documenting procedures, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and contributing to a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible work environment.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong skills in Process Control and Advanced Process Control, including design, implementation, and optimization of automated systems.
  • Candidates should possess solid Analytical Skills and Troubleshooting capabilities to interpret process data, identify root causes, and resolve operational issues.
  • Candidates should possess knowledge of Instrumentation, including setup, calibration, maintenance, and integration with control systems.
  • Relevant experience in manufacturing, food production, agriculture, or industrial automation is beneficial.
  • Post-secondary education in engineering, automation, controls, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, and commitment to safety and sustainability are important.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA/DCS systems, and industrial data analysis tools is an asset.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:

? 3-5 years of experience as a Controls Technician , preferably a Licensed Red Seal Electrician.

? Experience with Food manufacturing is considered an asset.

? Highly profi cient in PLC/HMI programming, troubleshooting and networking Allen Bradley hardware.

? Solid understanding of Ignition based HMI programming (i.e. Python)

? Willing to be trained in different levels of Lean manufacturing.

? A strong customer service focus, both internal and external.

? A strong attention to detail,

? Ability to communicate both written and verbal.

? Able to work within a team with strong interpersonal skills including leadership and collaborative infl uence skills.

? Ability to work in a team / independently in a busy environment.

? Experience with routine maintenance operations.

? Highly fl exible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.

? If required, you can work outside of your normal work schedule. 24/7 availability is required.

? Physical ability to lift to 50lb.

? May require some travel, a driver’s license is required

? Comfort in standing for long periods, use of a respirator, bend, twisting, kneeling, and working in extreme cold when required.
