Position Description:
• Receive, organize, and document system specifications, engineering drawings, bill of materials, and vendor data
• Document the physical breakdown of the vehicle, assembly and/or subsystem(s) in accordance with applicable military standards and approved customer maintenance concept
• Document and maintain the parts data in the Logistics Support Analysis Record database
• Plan and track progress of assigned activities
Perform the following Maintenance Engineering functions:
• Analyze vehicle system functionality and identify probable failure modes that could impact system performance/safety
• Identify and recommend specials tools and test equipment that the customer may require in order to effectively support their vehicles
• Write clear, step-by-step maintenance instructions describing to soldiers how to remove, repair and replace vehicle system components and assemblies
Perform the following Diagnostics Engineering functions:
• Analysis of electrical, hydraulic and mechanical system functionality to determine most efficient troubleshooting methodology (perform Fault Tree Analysis and/or Failure Mode Effect Analysis of system/component)
• Read and interpret engineering blueprints and subcontractor data
• Validate correctness of procedure on vehicle and/or component
• Development of fault insertion tools and non-destructive faults for use in validation of troubleshooting procedures
• Responsible for investigation and close out of troubleshooting related field problem reports and incidents
Perform the following Technical Writing functions:
• Develop/write procedures as part of overall development of technical manuals for automotive/vehicle/turret systems and sub-systems of the Light Armoured Vehicle (LAV)
• Generate accurate illustration requests to support procedure development
• Assist in creating and maintaining stat logs
Support and/or potentially perform the following functions:
• Assist with aftermarket support requests
• Assist in developing program schedule and tracking process to schedule
• Review change requests to determine level of impact to technical manuals and other Logistics products
• Train new IPT members and support supervision in giving direction to IPT members
• Validate and verify technical manuals at customer events when required
• Attend fit-ups as required
• Maintain the configuration and revision of the data in the database as well as all supporting documents
• Proactively support and communicate with other Engineering teams and departments
• Prepare and present deliverables at customer conferences and meetings
Required Qualifications:
• University Degree or College Diploma in a technical discipline
• Minimum 3 to 5 years relevant experience
• Proficient knowledge in the operation, maintenance and integration of vehicle components and systems
• Experience with VisMockup (Team Center Visualization) and Arbortext or other XML editing software
• Demonstrated high levels of written and oral communications skills, interpersonal and organizational skills
• Ability to travel (5% Cdn) and (5% US & Int'l) and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport
Preferred Qualifications:
• Proficient knowledge in the operation, maintenance and integration of GDLS-C LAV components and systems
• Experience with MIL-STD-1388 and SLICwave software
• Experience with MIL-STD-40051 and/or S1000D, and developing Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM)
• Experience dealing with customer logistics requirements and/or attending customer logistics conferences
