CONTROLS TECHNICIAN
This role will be a Mon. - Fri. in the office. Hours of work TBD.
SUMMARY
As the Controls Technician you will be directly involved in capital projects from the controls perspective and lead control technician direct reports by providing valuable troubleshooting, feedback and training to ensure we are optimizing the equipment in our highly automated state-of-the-art facility.

- Liaising with the Leadership Team to provide best practices, analyze data, and report uptime/downtime impact.
- Promoting excellent hands-on ability relating to a highly automated, robotic facility.
- Involvement in capital project ensuring that all needs are met from a controls perspective when planning and sending out RFP’s to vendors.
- Diagnosing, locating the cause of, and repairing malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment.
- Excellent PLC/HMI programming and troubleshooting skills in Studio 5000 (Rockwell).
- Create, maintain, and update graphical user dashboards
- Develop and deploy software tools to provide command and control oversight for non-technical operations team leads
- Inspecting equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair to ensure compliance with codes and specifications.
- Advising management on any potential hazards or missed control scopes.
- You will function as the controls team leader supervising and managing the activities, progress and projects of this group.
- Ensuring immediate corrective action is taken by the controls team on all breakdowns to ensure customer expectations and demands are met.
- Seeking continuous improvement by ensuring regular inspections, hazard analysis, and risk assessments are completed.
- Fostering positive relationships with external vendors, regulatory bodies, and employees - Assisting in the development and maintenance of SOPs, forms, policies, and procedures.
- Continuously monitor Aspire’s Maintenance program and provide recommendations and advise on required changes.
- Engaging in other assignments as assigned.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
- Greater than 5 years of experience in a control technician role as a Licensed Electrician 442A.
- Experience with Food manufacturing is considered an asset.
- Highly proficient in PLC/HMI and process programming, troubleshooting and networking Allen Bradley hardware.
- Develop detailed designs, implement, troubleshoot and test SCADA and integration solutions that meet project requirements
- Hands on experience for Perspective and Vision modules in Ignition
- know Install, configure, Architecture, Licensing, Scripting, Reporting, Database transactions in Ignition.
- Familiar with current best practices related to designing secure network architecture for remote access and configuring SSL /TLS in ignition
- Able to import BACnet devices into ignition, verify data flow, and create control and reporting loops
- Able to add features and functions using python
- Familiar with SQL databases and able to store and retrieve data related to Ignition and BacNet - Co-ordinate and carry out Full Functional Factory Testing (including UAT) of Ignition.
- Basic familiarity with Lean manufacturing (certification an asset).

- Experience with routine maintenance operations.

- If required, you can work outside of your normal work schedule. 24/7 availability is required.
- Physical ability to lift to 50lb.
- May require some travel, a driver’s license is required
- Comfort in standing for long periods, use of a respirator, bend, twisting, kneeling, and working in extreme cold when required.
- Ability to work 12-hour continental shifts including day and night shifts.
