Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Leads the manufacturing engineering staff.
  • Trains/mentors the manufacturing engineering staff.
  • Oversees the daily workflow and schedules of the department.
  • Develops and implements an efficient key performance indicator (KPI) process.
  • Provides input for performance evaluations of the mechanical engineering staff.
  • Participates in the hiring of mechanical engineering staff.
  • Follow and enforce all safe work practices in accordance with company policies, the Occupational Health and Safety Act and all applicable regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Develop plans and recommendations for equipment and correct methods of manufacturing including sequence of operations and detailed methodology of complex assemblies and installations, and detail components
  • Coordinate the development, evaluation and improvement of Routings – BOM and ensure verification of compliance to drawings.
  • Lead daily troubleshooting activities, provide solutions and support for process concerns or improvement
  • Liaise with a diverse group of internal and external business contacts.
  • Assist with make or buy proposals
  • Perform product-ability studies from engineering drawings

Skills & Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience
  • Must have excellent organization, supervisory, managerial and leadership skills to manage a team of engineers and technical staff.
  • Experience with production tooling design and implementation
  • Experience with drawing control
  • Experience with BOM control and maintenance
  • Experience working in an ERP environment
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft manufacturing (parts manufacturing and aircraft assembly) and composite materials and processes.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills as well as interpersonal skills
  • Must have excellent analytical and computational skills.
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement
  • Familiarity with computer aided design tools including CATIA and DraftSight
  • Ability to gather, analyse and summarize data to address critical challenges and improve designs/processes.
  • Educational or Academic Requirements:
  • Aircraft Manufacturing Technologist Diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering an asset
