Position Description:

The Data Protection Specialist is the key role responsible for technical data compliance, including Trade Compliance, CUI, and Intellectual Property classification.  The role will collaborate to determine classifications/protection and train on compliant data transfers.

  • Serves as the primary contact and liaison for technical data protection tagging within Team Center
  • Understand and interpret regulations impacting tagging, including Trade Compliance, Intellectual Property and Controlled Unclassified Information.
  • Works with key internal stakeholders in the review of related data and agreements to ensure compliance
  • Reviews supplier/internal compliance questionnaires for accuracy and coordinate accurate completion
  • Prioritizes data tagging needs in the tagging workflow for all objects, ensuring timely classification based on need by date
  • Collaborates with the Information Security function(s) to maintain records of all data assets and exports and maintains a data
  • Perform mass updates based on regulation changes to ensure security of data
  • Applies appropriate data protection methods (projects and licenses)
  • Subject matter export for data transfers / secure collaboration
  • Departmental training as required

 

Position Requirements:

  • University Degree or college diploma in a technical discipline
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience in either Trade Compliance, Intellectual Property, Controlled Unclassified Information
  • Proficient in analyzing technical data including Engineering drawings, specifications, and change documents
  • Expertise in Data Protection (Either Trade Compliance, Intellectual Property, or CUI)
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making ability
  • Proficient communication, training, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Goal-oriented and able to work under time sensitive and demanding conditions
  • Ability to travel (5% Cdn) and (10% US & Int'l) and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport
  • Must be able to meet Anthropometrical Size Restrictions for confined space.
  • Currently possess or able to obtain Security Clearance (Level 2)

 

Preferred Requirements:

  • Familiarity with data management principles and methods
  • Previous Compliance experience
  • Experience collaborating across markets and functions
