Sandblaster
 

We are a growing heavy equipment engineering and industrial manufacturing company located in St. Thomas, Ontario. We have an immediate requirement for a Sandblaster/Painter that will be dedicated to working with highly skilled team to execute the manufacture and assembly of new-to-market rail and mining vehicles. This role will primarily sandblast and act as the back-up painter.

Main Duties and Responsibilities: Adhering to Painting Specifications noted on Customer Work Orders

  • Keeping the work space neat and tidy
  • Sandblasting to required specifications
  • PSX-700 painting experience concidered an asset.
  • Cleaning the booth
  • Shop painting of parts
  • Team player with effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to mix their own paint
  • Knowledge on prepping material for paint
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety rules and procedures
  • Operate Spray Paint Equipment
  • Operate Sandblasting Equipment
  • Clean product before painting
  • Clean and maintain painting equipment
  • Clean and maintain sandblasting equipment
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications and Skills

Minimum 2 years of direct work experience in the Industrial Spray Painting and sandblasting industry and or protective coating industry.

Qualifications:

  • Should have experience in most of the above listed job responsibilities
  • Ability to work effectively both as an individual and a team member
  • Previous experience operating a lift truck is an asset
  • Ability to stand for 8 hours, with repetitive bending, twisting, and lifting (up to 50lbs)
  • Prospective candidates must have excellent work habits and a commitment to procedures and accuracy

Wages:

· Will be determined based on education and experience but generally range from $18-$22/hour to start.

Hours:

· Normal hours are from Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with the ability to work overtime as required periodically. Avra runs a 4 x 10 hour shift operation during the summer months, Monday through Thursday 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, with Fridays off.

Note:

· Prospective candidates must possess a valid driver’s licence and have access to reliable transportation

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
