Full job description

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems, equipment, and machinery within the pasta manufacturing facility. This role ensures that electrical systems meet safety standards, operational requirements, and compliance with applicable codes and regulations in Ontario, including the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and relevant Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) provisions. The Electrician works closely with the maintenance and production teams to minimize downtime and support the safe and efficient operation of the plant.

Electrical Maintenance and Repair:

· Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical systems, equipment, and machinery (e.g., motors, control panels, mixers, and other pasta manufacturing equipment).

· Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical faults using appropriate tools and techniques.

· Repair or replace defective wiring, switches, motors, relays, and other electrical components as needed.

· Ensure timely response to breakdowns to minimize production downtime.

Installations and Upgrades:

· Install new electrical systems, equipment, and wiring in accordance with applicable electrical codes, plant standards, and safety procedures.

· Assist in equipment upgrades, modifications, and process improvements as part of plant projects.

· Ensure proper documentation of electrical installations and modifications.

Safety, Compliance, and Standards:

· Adhere to and promote safety policies, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, arc flash protection, and electrical safety best practices.

· Ensure compliance with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code, OHSA, and plant-specific safety policies.

· Support environmental, health, and safety (EHS) initiatives, including hazard assessments and reporting on unsafe conditions.

Collaboration and Communication:

· Work closely with the maintenance team, production operators, and supervisors to coordinate repairs and ensure minimal disruption to operations.

· Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding equipment status, issues, and resolutions.

· Participate in training as required.

Other Duties:

· Maintain accurate records of work performed, including maintenance logs, inspection reports, and parts used.

· Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including root cause analysis and reliability improvements.

· Support inventory management for electrical spare parts and supplies.

· Perform other related duties as assigned by Maintenance Team Lead.

Education

· Valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial Electrician (442A) or Construction and Maintenance Electrician (309A).

· Valid Ontario Electrical License and in good standing with the Skilled Trades Ontario.

Knowledge & Experience

· 3+ years of experience as an Electrician in an industrial or manufacturing environment (food industry preferred).

· Knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC).

· Familiarity with equipment used in pasta manufacturing is an asset.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $45.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
