OPERATIONS MANAGER

Reporting ultimately to the Vice President of Manufacturing and Engineering, the Operations Manager directs and leads the operations team including shipping/receiving, operations, and sanitation. This role effectively and efficiently manages the development and directions of the operational team to drive the growth of revenue, productivity, and a superior level of satisfaction among our clients. 

SHIFT STRUCTURE

 

This role will primarily work Monday to Friday, day shift, however work outside of standard working hours is required as needed, in order to effectively support the location's 24/7 operation.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE CONTRIBUTIONS THAT MATTER

 

  • Promote a Health and Safety, Food Safety and GMP Culture by adhering to company standards at all times. 

  • Ensure a focus on a Lean Culture that promotes performance by analyzing data to reduce waste, inefficiencies, while improving working conditions.

  • Establish and ensure daily and weekly productivity and department targets are met or exceeded, while maintaining adherence to established methods to measure and maintain customer service excellence standards.

  • Plan all activities related to short and long-term production objectives including balancing inventory, sub-assembly processes, WIP, and labour.

  • Develop and implement new strategies for creating or improving processes and procedures to improve corporate performance.

  • Enhance and develop SOPs, policies, procedures, and service systems to support the company in the pursuit of its goals.

  • Assist the Operations Supervisors on the management of the Operations Team with guidance, coaching, performance reviews, professional development plans, mentoring and corrective actions. 

  • Ensure that reporting team members receive up-to-date training and implement cross training opportunities, understand expectations and performance is measured. 

  • Maintain appropriate personnel scheduling to meet departmental labour requirements; act as Supervisor coverage as needed

  • Meet regularly with other department heads or business unit leaders and facilitate the resolution of problems between business units or departments.

  • Departmental budget preparation and conducting monthly financial assessments.

  • Analyse and report on the department’s daily, monthly, and annual key performance indicators.

  • Foster positive relationships with external vendors, regulatory bodies, and employees. 

  • Ensure that team activities remain in compliance with HACCP, CFIA, and related third party certifier requirements and ensure compliance in internal and external audits. 

  • Other related duties and required or assigned.

 

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

 

  • You have 3-5 years previous management experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment with proven leadership abilities; food manufacturing experience an asset. 

  • Experience working on, leading, or collaborating with sanitation teams.

  • Diploma or degree in operations management, business, or a related field, or sufficient relevant experience

  • Familiarity with automation, HMIs, and SCADAs an asset.

  • Continuous Improvement certification is an asset.

  • Excellent client facing and communication skills. 

  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.

  • You are proficient in developing and tracking budgets. 

  • You have a strong attention to detail, and can clearly communicate both written and verbal.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Able to work within a team with strong interpersonal skills to include leadership and collaborative influence skills.
