Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Manufacturing Engineer - Continuous Improvement will perform continuous improvement and capital deployment activities at the site and participate in major projects across the division.  This role reports to the Plant Manager.

OBJECTIVES:

  • Analyze production and maintenance data to identify root cause of down time and scrap and execute irreversible corrective actions and continuous improvement activities.
  • Lead efforts to improve Operational Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) in home site and share results, data and solutions across all sites.
  • Coordinate with quality, product engineering, and manufacturing operations to identify, prioritize, and execute both process and material pipeline project initiatives.
  • Support risk analysis on areas that could significantly harm the business and provide input to the development of mitigating strategies.
  • Provide data driven recommendations for capital optimization and manage capital projects.
  • Assist in analyzing asset optimization and make/buy decisions.
  • Provide technical training for site maintenance and production resources as necessary
  • Improve and maintain documentation for site production assets
  • Interface with key equipment and tooling suppliers.

  • Plant Manager, Operations Leadership Team and Front Line Staff
  • Site Maintenance Manager
  • Divisional Manufacturing Engineering Team Members
  • External suppliers
  • Quality, Finance, Supply Chain, and Product Engineering, other internal and external materials support providers

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in Plastics Extrusion strongly preferred.
  • Strong technical skills and interpersonal communication skills.
  • 10- 30% travel involved
  • Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in an engineering discipline.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and Continuous Improvement.
