Senior Manager, Manufacturing

 

About the job

As a member of our Manufacturing & Manufacturing Engineering team, you will provide senior-level leadership, support, and direction to TMI’s Manufacturing and Manufacturing Engineering teams by planning activities to ensure the safe and efficient manufacturing of high quality medical devices.

 

Responsibilities Include:

People Management

  • Maintain schedule and established time standard compliance for all staff, i.e. by organizing and directly supervising staff, administering leave, monitoring, responding to staff headcount requirements, etc.
  • Treat employees are fairly and equitably, have a sense of self-esteem, and are encouraged to develop to their full potential, i.e. by administering workplace policies and programs
  • Support employee development, i.e. by evaluating performance, providing feedback, and supporting their growth
  • Manage employee issues to enable employees to have a high degree of focus on their jobs, i.e. by resolving employee relations issues, performance problems, and disciplinary issues
  • Monitor and create schedules and time standards

Manufacturing Management

  • Ensure all production cost meet/exceed targets while meeting standards
  • Identify, prioritize, and delegate improvement opportunities in manufacturing processes, components, and products Effectively plan resources and develop labour forecasting processes, resulting in efficient assembly of TMI products
  • Meet customer requirements through execution of the production plan in collaboration with Logistics and Materials team
  • Investigate and correct labour and material standard variances

 

Manufacturing Engineering Management

  • Monitor/Audit processes being utilized to develop and create our products, e.g. Process Failure Mode Effects Analyses (PFMEAs), preventative maintenance program, Validations, Work Instructions, Incident Reports etc.
  • Source and acquire appropriate manufacturing equipment and implement in a safe and efficient manner
  • Ensure all operation planning has a detailed and accurate time standard
  • In collaboration with the Science and Technology staff, ensure PFMEAs for new products and processes using the result to improve manufacturability of designed products
  • Develop and deliver a short and long-term plan for manufacturing, including people, machines and processes.

 

Health and Safety

  • Comply with relevant health and safety legislation, including the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, etc.
  • Monitor employees work safety, i.e. by maintaining personal competency in departmental processes, equipment operation, materials usage etc., understanding the associated hazards in the department, and protecting workers from those hazards through information, training, and enforcement of procedures, laws, etc.

 

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering Industrial or Mechanical or Business or a related field of study
  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) designation is an asset
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience with progressively increasing responsibility in a manufacturing environment
  • At least 5+ years’ experience in leading / managing teams
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross functional teams
  • Ability to plan complex activities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Working knowledge of an ISO regulated quality management system is preferred
  • Training and experience in occupational health and safety
