Shelf Life Evaluation Technologist (contract)

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Reporting into McCormick Canada Plant Quality, this role is responsible for finding opportunities to use up expiring materials without demand. This includes conducting investigations on expired blocked/restricted materials to determine appropriate usage/disposition of materials. The responsibilities include:

Run and analyze weekly Shelf-Life Reports (including additional report prior to weekend shifts)

Find opportunities to use up expiring materials without demand

Organize sample collection and distribution

Determine and coordinate all necessary sensory and analytical testing and analyze corresponding results

Determine disposition of products and update SAP accordingly
-
Issue QNs as necessary for rework and RID
-
Review expired blocked/restricted materials – investigate, collect samples, evaluate, analyze and determine disposition

Participate in inventory management meetings, projects
QUALIFICATIONS:

BS degree Food Science, Chem Eng, Chemistry or related discipline

Intermediate knowledge of PC software including Microsoft Office is essential

Solid SAP knowledge

Familiar with Quality Control systems, GLP, HACCP and GMP’s

Technical knowledge of raw materials

Ability to analyze data to drive decision making

High level of communication, and collaboration skills internally, cross-functionally

Flexible and Adaptable

Ability to handle numerous tasks and competing priorities

High degree of ownership and professional commitment

Strong business sense and ability to productively navigate within and adjust to various corporate cultures

Ability to enter manufacturing facility and obtain samples.
