Role Summary:

To provide support to the R&D Product Developer. The R&D Technician plays a key role in preparing benchtop samples, maintaining the laboratory and its equipment, and assisting with R&D trial runs. This role also involves identifying defects in samples and raw materials, contributing to the development and refinement of new products, and ensuring accurate documentation of test results and procedures.

Job Duties

  • Develop expertise in the preparation of chocolate, cookie and nut spreads.
  • Ability to prepare high quality lab samples of confectionary food products for customer presentations to support Natra growth objectives
  • Support in tasting and evaluating raw materials for cost reduction and process improvement strategies.
  • Test samples to ensure consistency and adherence to customer specifications. Tasting goods as necessary.
  • Communicate any lab or quality issue to supervisor.
  • Prepare samples and coordinate shipping to internal and external customers.
  • Responsible for maintaining lab inventory/supply of raw materials.
  • Support product developer and operations to complete product upscaling processes.
  • Maintain general cleanliness of the lab and equipment.
  • Process paperwork and packaging required for courier shipments to customers.
  • Assist in the creation and completion of Technical Data Sheets (TDS) and nutritional information for new and existing products.

Adhere to all prescribed Regulatory and Company requirements for Occupational Health, Safety and Environment, Food Safety and Quality Systems, HACCP, Sanitation and GMP’s.

Solid understanding of formulation principles, lab equipment operation, and analytical testing methods. Knowledge of GMPs, SOPs, quality control procedures, and accurate data documentation

Qualifications:

Post-secondary education in an appropriate field (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Science or equivalent)

Pay: $50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
