Apprentice Industrial Mechanic Millwright
Description
Amsted Automotive, Means Transform Products, London, Ontario is looking for an Apprentice Industrial Millwright.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Apprentice will maintain all equipment to required standards and be responsive to line calls and equipment failures. The Apprentice routinely performs work independently and must be able to work in an environment with many distractions, maintaining a high level of accuracy and safety, while performing their duties
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Responsible for the repair / adjustment, maintenance, installation of various types of production and plant equipment; Inform, record, report as required or appropriate
- Responsible to conduct all work in accordance with handbook / trade / training standards, and responsibilities defined in job documents (job descriptions, operator instructions, etc.)
- Complete work assignments with accuracy, sense of urgency, and in a safe manner in accordance with established standards, and all applicable Regulations / Legislation
- Participate in company programs as required or requested including but not limited to 5S, Elimination of Waste, communication meetings, training, etc.
- Promote the company’s operational visions, values, and goals
- Conduct all work activities in a manner that is supportive of team effort
- Adherence to all rules and regulations as may be amended from time to time
- Participate in the company’s health, safety, environmental, and operational programs
- Ensure all operator safety devices function properly on completion of repairs, modifications, and installations
- Maintain a clean and environmentally safe workshop and production lines
- Perform other duties as required
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
- Registered apprentice with MTCU
- Must have knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and basic electrical including reading / interpreting drawings and blueprints
- Consideration given to someone with a knowledge of stamping presses and related machinery
- Must have knowledge of MIG /Arc welding and use of cutting torches
- Must have minimum 2 years field experience in an industrial environment
- Forklift, man lift, tool shop equipment operation
- Possess working knowledge of ISO/TS16949, ISO14001, and Q1 compliance criteria
- Design and fabrication of items to support equipment uptime and facilities maintenance required
- Strong organizational and time managements skills
- Ability to achieve results / targets through others who are not direct reports
- Ability to adapt and maintain performance in changing work environment
- Effective interpersonal / communication skills required
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
