Role Summary
The Leadhand coordinates the daily production activities of the team with respect to job assignment and job rotation to ensure quality standards and production schedules are achieved. Maintains a clean and safe working environment. Monitors timekeeping and attendance and performs some administrative duties
Key Responsibilities
Continually monitors quality, breakdowns, or problems on a day-to-day basis to ensure production targets are met.
Instructs and organizes the department work force for required daily activities.
Ensures that operators are trained, qualified, and capable of performing assigned duties.
Ensure standardized work processes are being followed. Maintains production analysis boards.
Ensures that all safety devices are checked at the start of each shift and that results are recorded.
Ensures appropriate first-off procedures for all processes are followed.
Ensures that all production paperwork is accurate (i.e. production, time, check sheets, OA boards, etc.).
Ensures that all work-in-process and any/all parts are correctly identified and dispositioned.
Ability to operate production equipment, as required.
Participates when required to investigate all non-conformance to Company polices/procedures/rules/regulations and provides the Supervisor information and documentation for corrective action.
Performance Management - teaches, coaches and mentors employees to meet company expectations.
Ensures employees are trained or certified, as required and participates in training programs as required
Conducts pre-shift meetings to communicate Safety People Quality Production information and to promote involvement in issues affecting employees or their work areas.
Follows HS-16 Accident/Incident Investigation Procedure
Ensures subcontractors are performing work safely while in their work areas/zones
Participates in the Return-to-Work program and ensures employees work within their R-T-W plan
Key Qualifications/Requirements
Grade 12 education and/or post-secondary education in Manufacturing Management or related experience.
Able to understand, anticipate, follow and provide direction while exercising maturity of judgment.
Able to maintain confidentiality, and use discretion and tact
Strong time management, leadership, communication, organizational and presentation skills
Assembly equipment experience including robot operations, teach pendant, and weld processes.
Must be to operate basic computer functions including software programs and applications

Physically capable of performing essential duties of the job
Able to work overtime to meet customer needs.
Able to work all three shifts, as required. Days, Afternoons, Nights.
Responsibilities and Working Conditions
Under the general direction of the Production Supervisor, the Leadhand performs a variety of tasks as directed. The incumbent requires good organizational and communication skills to exchange, collect, and verify information. The Leadhand is exposed to elements such as temperature and noise.
