Job Description
Facilities Supervisor
As a member of our Operations team, you will be responsible for the overall maintenance and cleanliness of the TMI facility. Manage all facility contract services, supervise custodial team, identify, and manage facilities related projects as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
People Supervision
- Supervise custodial staff through leave administration, headcount requirements and by resolving performance issues.
- Ensure employees develop, i.e., by evaluating performance, providing feedback, and supporting their growth.
- Ensure employees are treated fairly and equitably, have a sense of self-esteem, and are encouraged to develop to their full potential, i.e., by administering workplace policies and programs
Facilities Management
- Ensure the maintenance and up-keep of all TMI facilities.
- Develop and maintain 5-year facility maintenance/needs plan
- Manage and build good working relationships with service contract providers including but not limited to lawn care, snow removal, HVAC, security, fire suppression, pest control, waste removal, etc.
- Ensure that property/building needs assessments and work requirements are completed
- Coordinate scheduled and unscheduled service and preventative maintenance for the TMI facility
- Monitor effectiveness of all external and onsite contractors ensuring safe work practices and compliance to TMI protocols are met.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance as required e.g., Prepare and paint areas, minor repairs to lights and hardware.
- Identify and implement continuous improvements to reduce cost, waste, and energy.
Office Services
- Coordinate all renovations and furniture configuration
- Maintain all office furniture and appliances.
Security
- Maintain security and fire suppression system for the building
Housekeeping and Special Events
- Maintain stock of facilities related supplies
- Assist in coordination of special events through set up, clean-up and other custodial duties as required
Health and Safety
- Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, including the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, etc.
- I.e., Administering Hot Work Permits
- Ensure WHMIS labelling and MSDS requirements on maintenance products is in place
- Make recommendations for improvements in safety related issues
- Assist with fire safety planning through the coordination of scheduled inspections, sprinkler system testing, and documentation.
- Assist with management of environmental compliance requirements.
- Ensure contractor and service provider compliance with external (e.g., WSIB) and TMI policies and procedures.
- Ensure employees are working safely, i.e., by maintaining personal competency in departmental processes, equipment operation, materials usage etc., understanding the associated hazards in the department, and protecting workers from those hazards through information, training, and enforcement of procedures, laws, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma or Certificate in Maintenance or Construction or a related field of study, or equivalent experience.
- Completion of health and safety courses is an asset.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities maintenance.
- 3 years of supervisory experience is an asset.
- High level of integrity and reliability.
- Ability to provide a satisfactory criminal record check.
- Ability to safely operate motorized equipment and lifting devices.
- Knowledge of WHMIS.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
- Project Management experience.
- Excellent organization and communication skills.
- Ability to work outside normal working hours as required, e.g., early morning, late evening/night and weekends.
- Computer literate with:
- Basic to intermediate experience in MS Office applications
