Job Purpose and Impact

The Laboratory Technician position will lead the completion of routine analytical and laboratory testing of new products in support of the Research and Development teams. The laboratory technician is responsible for receiving and preparing samples for testing as well as documenting results of tests and communicating those results. You will also be responsible for checking and monitoring the instruments and equipment that is used during the testing process.

Key Accountabilities

•    Receive, prepare and process sample for laboratory testing.
•    Understands and complies with safety regulations and other procedural compliance regulations.
•    Maintains inventory management for laboratory supplies and cleaning of lab areas and equipment.
•    Interprets and documents results of all tests and internally communicates results verbally and/or in writing as required.
•    Handle technical issues under minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.
•    Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma, secondary education level or equivalent
  • Minimum of four years of related work experience
  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to work efficiently individually and in a team environment.
  • Inventory management skills and experience.
  • Strong computer program professional knowledge: Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
  • Prior experience in production related work.
