Key Responsibilities

The Quality Assurance Area Leader provides support to the Quality Department Leader, QA Department personnel, and all other Departments in activities related to the facilitation of effective and efficient quality practices according to customer and industry standards and specifications including ISO/IATF-16949 and ISO-14001.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  1. Post secondary graduate with a technical degree is preferred.
  2. Greater than 2 years and including 3 years of automotive, Q.A. and/or quality Coordinator experience.
  3. Computer and CAD proficiency is required.
  4. Prior experience implementing ISO/IATF-16949 procedures, APQP, PPAP submissions, GD&T, Flow.
  5. Diagrams, FMEA’s. Control Plans, Statistics, Fixture Development, and independent work with tooling subcontractors is desired.
  6. Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
  7. IATF Lead Auditor Training.

Role Summary

  1. Provide leadership and supervisor to all personnel within the department.
  2. Is responsible for scheduling and verifying all overtime and vacation scheduled within the department.
  3. Coordinates cross functional groups within and outside the department to resolve specific issues related to parts, products, customers, and suggestions.
  4. Ensures the proper implementation and verification of customer and supplier preventative and corrective actions.
  5. Works with Presstran personnel on APQP and cross functional teams on the development of new and existing components to meet critical customer deadlines.
  6. Evaluates dimensional issues and develop appropriate SC’s and/or CCs on new programs in conjunction with the project co-ordinator and/or customer.
  7. Supports other Area Leaders and Lead Hands in compliance with the Presstran Health and Safety/Ergonomic/Environmental program/procedures by:
  • participating in performing regular workplace inspections to assist with hazard identification,
  • ensuring corrective actions are in place to address hazards;  
  • leading investigation for all incidents, near misses, property damage etc.
  • providing employee training with TWI risk assessments, pre-use inspections, lock-out etc.
  1. Ensures employees are trained or certified, as required and participates in training programs as defined by Presstra

Role Summary Cont'd

  1. Liases between customers, Q.A., Engineering, Manufacturing, and subcontractors.
  2. Monitors customer warranty sites and evaluates any potential warranty issues.
  3. Ensures that Q.A. Control Plan Package documentation and procedures are maintained.
  4. Ensures that planning of PPAP submissions on new products and Engineering changes to meet customer deadlines is achieved.
  5. Utilizes appropriate problem-solving techniques, CAD, statistics, and GD&T as required.
  6. Assists in ISO/IATF-16949 and ISO14000 implementation and compliance.
  7. Performs statistical studies and report data as required.
  8. Follows and adheres to requirements of current customer quality and environmental management systems standards.
