Summary
The CNC Process Technician supports the operation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of production systems, reporting to the Engineering Manager. This role works closely with the Management Team, Process Technicians, Maintenance Department, Value Stream Leaders, and the Engineering and Quality departments to keep production systems running to design criteria and to drive improvement initiatives.
This position may require international travel for training or division support, as required.

The CNC Process Technician supports the operation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of production systems, reporting to the Engineering Manager. This role works closely with the Management Team, Process Technicians, Maintenance Department, Value Stream Leaders, and the Engineering and Quality departments to keep production systems running to design criteria and to drive improvement initiatives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Report on the operation of production systems to the Engineering Manager and identify areas of opportunity.
- Assist production Value Stream Leaders with the operation of all production systems as required to achieve KPIs.
- Support the Engineering department with the completion of time and motion studies, SMED workshops, and 5S initiatives.
- Generate Maintenance Work Orders and direct personnel to address system deficiencies.
- Troubleshoot production systems to ensure they are functioning to design criteria.
- Complete CNC and additional consumable tool changes.
- Review analytical measurement data and perform equipment adjustments to ensure product compliance to customer specifications.
- Support the Light Metals Division Centre of Competence through inter-company development projects.
- Support third-party contractors as required.
- Travel to facilities outside of Canada for extended periods, as required.
- Monitor, control, and continuously improve production processes.
Required Qualifications
- Experience as a CNC / Automation Technician.
- 2–5 years of experience in a CNC/automation-based manufacturing environment.
- Experience using continuous improvement tools and principles.
- Knowledge of FMEA and project management tools and techniques.
- Functional knowledge of GD&T and drawing interpretation.
- Technical writing skills, including the creation of technical reports and RFQs for machine builds.
- Awareness of and adherence to ISO, IATF, and customer-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- University degree or college diploma in an Engineering field.
- Experience with SAP.
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
- Basic robot programming/operation fundamentals.
- Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
