Shipping Assistant

We are a growing heavy equipment engineering and industrial manufacturing company located in St. Thomas, Ontario. We have an immediate requirement for an experienced Shipper/Receiver that will be dedicated to working with highly a skilled team to support the manufacture, assembly and shipment of new-to-market rail and mining equipment.

What we need in a candidate:

• Determine method of shipment and arrange shipping; prepare bills of lading, customs forms, invoices and other shipping documents manually or by computer
• Assemble containers and crates, record contents manually or by computer, pack goods to be shipped and affix identifying information (Labels) and shipping instructions
• Oversee loading and unloading of goods from trucks or other conveyances
• Inspect and verify incoming goods against invoices or other documents, record shortages and reject damaged goods
• Unpack, code and route goods to appropriate storage areas
• Maintain internal, manual or computerized record-keeping systems
• May operate forklift, hand truck or other equipment to load, unload, transport and store goods.

Qualifications:

• Minimum high school diploma is required
• Previous experience in a related clerical occupation or as a warehouse worker.
• Previous experience shipping goods internationally is preferred (Primarily Canada, USA, Mexico)
• A forklift certificate is required.
• A driver's licence is required.

Wages:

• Will be determined based on education and experience

Hours:

• Normal hours are from Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with the ability to work overtime as required periodically. During the summer months Arva operates a 4 x 10 hour shift work week, Monday through Thursday
• Prospective candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to reliable transportation
