Position Summary:
We are looking for a Product Development Specialist for Nestle based at our London location reporting into the Technical & Innovation Integration Leader.  The incumbent will be responsible for supporting the Ice Cream business with the development of new products and processes within the London factory.

 

What to Expect: 
You will work closely with Marketing, Product Commercialization, QA, Production, Engineering and other functions, while taking into consideration compliance with Nestle and external standards. You will be responsible for managing the portfolio of raw material specifications and recipes at the market level.  Ensure all processes and requirements related to Materials and Recipe Management are followed and comply with corporate standards.

 

A day in the life of a Production Development Specialist: 

  • Work with ingredient suppliers to create and update ingredient purchasing specifications and market requirements outlining microbiological, chemical and physical requirements. 
  • Maintain the online system of ingredient documentation (TraceGains) and ensure compliance with all functionally relevant Nestlé Standards and Instructions.
  • Work in SAP-GLOBE to create ingredient and recipe specifications, update bill of materials as required, and complete the master data set up for raw materials, semi-finished products and trial materials. 
  • Manage the development and introduction of new products and processes within the factory, from idea to post launch. 
  • Participate in I2L (Idea to launch) project teams and provide technical input at all stages at the gate approval process while incorporating consumer insights into winning product ideas.
  • Create and renovate ice cream recipes; conduct experiments and make prototypes in the pilot plant. 
  • Ensure new product performance at the factory through trials and qualifications process.
  • Provide technical support to the factory when required.
  • Manage technical projects and support factory and business on improvement and savings projects related to products, processes and technologies.
  • Support and/or perform Pilot Plant trials and prototyping as required. 

 

Role Requirements

  • University Degree in Food Science or Science and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Innovation or Operations experience, specifically on the management of Raw Materials, Recipes, Finished Products, and Compliance would be preferred. 
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience within the food Industry would be preferred.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds is necessary.
