Seasonal Lab Assistant - 6 Month Contract

BUSINESS UNIT           Quality Management, Ice Cream Factory
LOCATION                   London 401 Factory, Ontario
REPORTS TO               Supervisor, Quality Assurance
 
The incumbent will be responsible for performing analytical validations, tests, reporting and small projects as determined by management.
 
Major Responsibilities
  • Assist in various allergen, cleaning, lab equipment, lab method validation studies as assigned.
  • Assist in various QA digitalization and ECRS projects as assigned.
  • Collect pre-operational samples, routine lab samples and performs lab analysis following the procedures and standards.
  • Document results and organize test results for records review and analysis
  • Calibrate and maintain lab equipment
  • Follow all job-related guidelines and procedures for personal safety, food safety, environment and company security (including but not limited to lockout/tag out, use of P.P.E.’s, Hazard Analysis, chemical and product spills, recycling) as required.  Be a role model for Quality and GMPs.
  • Work in a manner that provides maximum safety to yourself and your fellow associates
  • Responsible any other duties as required as a member of the QA team
  • Know and adhere to G.M.P.’s in your area to prevent product contamination with foreign materials, bacteria or allergens
  • Champion a non-negotiable attitude for Quality
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
 
Qualifications
  • B.Sc. in biology, microbiology, Chemistry, nutrition or science/food related field or a College diploma in Science Laboratory Technology program or a College equivalent
  • Experience in analytical methods and have the ability to accurately perform various physical and chemical testing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft software and using computer.
  • Must be able to carry out jobs/tasks with minimum supervision.
  • Must exhibit independent decision-making ability and possess good organizational skills.
  • Must exhibit accuracy, efficiency, effectiveness and initiative in the job.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work successfully in the team environment.
