The Opportunity
Payroll:
- Process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll
- Ensure compliance with provincial ESA and CRA regulation and other legal requirements
- Accurately process terminations, including ROE’s, severance calculations, clawbacks etc.
- Maintain accurate and current employee records, ensuring appropriate data integrity
- Respond in a timely manner to payroll related questions and assist with resolution to issues
- Proactively identify potential issues concerning payroll processes, errors, systems and propose solutions
- Calculate manual payments when required
- Preparation and execution of year end cycle including T4s
- Handle sensitive issues in a professional timely manner
Human Resources:
- Responsible integrity of HR data, ensuring standards and procedures are followed to protect and improve integrity
- Participate in onboarding process by preparing new employee packages and facilitating HR module of onboarding session
- Administration Health & Benefits program by processing new enrollments, profile changes, terminations and employee inquiries
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive personnel files
- Act as HRIS Superuser and provide training to new supervisors and managers
- Manage employee attendance program by tracking absence occurrences and issuing progressive discipline documents to supervisors as required.
- Participate in regular research and compliance initiatives regarding Human Resources issues
- Active participation in recruitment process including job postings, screening resumes, coordinating interviews, conducting reference checks and assisting with offer process
- Assist with the further development of policies and procedures as required, and help to ensure compliance with policies, procedures and applicable legislation
- Complete ad hoc requests including various reports from Director of HR and other department managers
Qualifications:
- Diploma/Degree in Business Administration, HR ot other relevant area
- 2+ years of payroll experience
- Certified Payroll Practitioner (PCP ) certification or in process
- CHRL certification or in process
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc)
- HRIS Experience (Ceridian and Synerion is an asset)
- Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail
- Must have a clear criminal background
