QA Lead
 

We Are Hiring a Quality Assurance to join our Afternoon Shift!

 

Located in the St. Thomas facility the Quality Assurance Lead is responsible for leading departmental safety, development of QA technicians, and ensuring dept targets are met. This position is responsible for the day to day supervision and planning of the QA hourly personnel.

What you will do?

  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on safe work practices to meet Safety and 5S targets
  • Support Operations in meeting quality targets through the participation and leading improvements in all aspects of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost using daily management, various Quality and Lean tools, and Process Problem Solving
  • Participate in Lean Glass house and COQ to meet TCP targets
  • Resolve personnel problems through investigation of issues, working with other departments, identifying solutions, recommending actions, and communicating the plan
  •  
  • Lead all aspects of time / attendance, vacation bookings and leave of absences for the dept hourly employees
  • Develop and track QA Technician training through the use of Work instructions, and trainer checklists
  • Troubleshoot any procedural issues that are brought up in the daily running of the department
  • Implement ergonomic improvements where possible - Identifying processes that may cause injury to employees and looking for new, user-friendly ways for QA Techs to complete common tasks
  • Conduct new employee evaluations during the probationary period
  • Administration of Collective Agreement including discipline and documentation of issues
  • Participate in the ongoing continuous improvement of procedures and processes
  • Support the development, qualification, and implementation of inspection, testing and measurement equipment

 

What you will bring?

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in quality supervision preferred
  • Automotive and lean manufacturing background is an asset
  • Proven track record to develop and implement projects that achieve identified targets and timelines
  • Ability to produce succinct reports/presentations to communicate the status of assigned projects/tasks
  • Strong leadership abilities, and decision making; able to lead effective meetings and cross functional teams
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated diplomacy and professionalism
  • Strong problem solving and root cause analysis background (8D, A3, 5 Why, Fishbone)
  • Yellow, Green or Black Belt (6 Sigma) is an asset
  • Exceptional planning and organizational abilities with task prioritization, multi-tasking, use of timelines and time management techniques
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Must be able to work with little supervision and be self-directed
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong ability to read blueprints and have GD&T knowledge
  • Proven track record of auditing and dealing with suppliers
  • Experience in a unionized environment would be an asset
  • College Degree or Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer is an asset
