General Accountant - Ecommerce

As a member of our Finance team, you will execute full cycle accounting activities, reconciliations, and preparation of financial reporting and analysis for TMI Group’s growing Ecommerce business.

 

Responsibilities Include:

General Accounting and Reconciliations

  • Reconcile balance sheet and expense accounts, including bank accounts, credit card and ecommerce accounts, payables accounts, accruals, and intercompany accounts
  • Assist in maintenance and enhancement of chart of accounts, and other datasets used in accounting system and ecommerce platforms
  • Assist in development and implementation of financial processes and identifying areas for improved efficiencies
  • Perform period end and year-end closing duties including preparation of monthly journal entries and lead sheets
  • Ensure accurate tracking of intercompany charges between related companies
  • Calculate and Deliver tax related filings e.g., HST, VAT, and USA sales taxes, ensuring timely filing of returns and payments as required in each of the relevant jurisdictions.

 

Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Review detailed sub-ledgers and reconcile to GL, and analyze variances to budget and previous year on a monthly basis
  • Prepare monthly financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows), and monthly management performance reports while adhering to deadlines
  • Prepare and deliver departmental reporting to support business/management requirements and provide support to functional departments on questions related to expenses
  • Assist in preparation of annual budget and quarterly financial forecasts
  • Provide financial analysis, e.g., customized reports, key performance indicators and other measurable related reporting activities
  • Preparing ad hoc financial reports, and other projects or analysis as requested.

 

Other Compliance and Analysis

  • Prepare various statutory reporting for Statistics Canada, etc for the TMI Group
  • Assist with daily cash management for all TMI related companies including bank reconciliations
  • Provide general accounting assistance to related companies as required
  • Assist with product Transfer pricing analysis and other financial analysis for TMI related companies as requested.

 

Health and Safety

  • Comply with relevant health and safety legislation, including the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, etc.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree or college diploma in accounting or a related field of study
  • 4+ years of experience in general accounting or finance function
  • CPA designation or working towards designation is an asset
  • Computer literate with

o Advanced experience in MS Excel (spreadsheets)

o Basic to intermediate experience in MS Dynamics Great Plains (ERP) – not required, but would be an asset

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • High level of attention to detail
