HACCP Coordinator

Role Summary:

Reporting to the Manager, Quality Assurance, the HACCP coordinator is accountable for implementing, and maintaining the HACCP program. Responsible for updating and maintaining the prerequisite, validations, SOPs, SSOPs up to date and in compliance to ensure that the Company’s objectives for food safety, quality and regulatory compliance meet or exceed. Position will also cover for QA technician when on vacation and cover as Manager’s designate in absence.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage Sofina HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) program which includes maintaining, implementation and verification of procedures, documents, validations, processes and perform onsites & reassessment to ensure compliance to regulations.
  • Assist in follow up corrective actions and preventative measures from audit findings.
  • When there is a deviation, responsible for reporting and recommending corrective actions and preventative measures based on root cause analysis to implement compliance.
  • Development of training material and conduct training on food safety and quality requirements for management and associates.
  • Accountable for preparation and participation in all internal/third party/CFIA audits.
  • Conduct quality audits. Provide timely feedback to the Manager QA and the Plant Management on quality issues and recommend corrective actions and preventative measures.
  • Audit production facility and processes to ensure managers / employees adhere to HACCP, GFSI (BRC), Quality Assurance programs and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). When there is a deviation, this is reported to operation management to implement compliance.
  • Assist in coordination of recall policies and processes; oversee all pest control activities, including activities of the pest control provider.
  • Assist in other assigned tasks to QA Manager and Plant Manager.
  • Maintain professional interaction with third party auditors / CFIA / Contractors and assist CFIA with inspection Tasks, INS report etc..
  • Cover for Manager, Quality Assurance and QA Technician vacations and be able to lead the QA technicians in absence of the Manager, Quality Assurance.

Qualifications

  • Diploma / Degree in Food Science, or a related discipline with three to five years of food safety related experience is required.
  • HACCP Certification required.
  • Strong knowledge of GMP, GFSI, CFIA Regulatory requirements and systems.
    Strong computer knowledge and ability to work with various programs (Microsoft Excel, Word, Power point etc.).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
