Health & Safety Supervisor

The Health and Safety Supervisor will be primarily responsible for all applicable training requirements for the manufacturing environment. This positon will schedule and facilitate all required training for both all employees within the facility, and utilize outside facilitators as required in all areas of Health and Safety, along with all equipment used within the facility. This positon will also be responsible in ensuring all employee are following the companies’ health and safety policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor training priorities for staff, maintain and update training records, as well as ensuring staff refresher, recertification and annual continued education requirements remain current
  • Ensure mandatory and job specific training is completed and maintained, as the “Train the Trainer”
  • Work with each department to schedule training including and ensure training and certification is completed
  • Investigate near misses, incident or accidents, ensure any follow up required is complete
  • Coordinates and chairs safety meetings, leads all safety talks, including record keeping and follow-up research
  • Complies, analyzes and interprets statistical data related to occupational illness and accidents
  • Provide strong health and safety mentoring, coaching and support to internal and external clients as necessary
  • Coordinate and schedule any 3rd party train courses
  • Ensure competency levels are properly maintained through the facility
  • Complies, analyzes and interprets statistical data related to occupational illness and accidents

Requirements:

  • Post secondary education in Human Resources, Business, Health and Safety or related field
  • 3 to 5 years manufacturing experience
  • 3 to 5 years health and safety experience
  • Knowledge of the applicable regulations including OHSA, Human Rights, Labour Relations and ESA
  • Advanced computer skills: Excel and Word
  • Excellent communication and multitasking capabilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills and detail oriented
