Technical Illustrator Specialist

Key Job Elements:

• Develop technical multimedia (e.g., illustrations, animations, schematics, graphics) in accordance with contractual and stylistic requirements.
• Be proficient with illustration and multimedia software such as Adobe Creative Cloud and IsoDraw.
• Possess a foundational understanding of interactive applications, animations, motion graphics, and video production.
• Collaborate with content developers to collect technical data required to complete multimedia projects.
• In rare cases where engineering source data is not detailed, utilize CAD software to model or electronically draw the necessary details required for publications.
• Utilize Content Management Systems to maintain and manage files in accordance with departmental and contractual requirements.
• Manage project workload within schedule and budget allocations.
• Be adaptable, agile, and responsive to changing priorities and delivery milestones.
• Be familiar with the stylistic details of customer contractual requirements and be able to guide others in achieving a consistent and high-quality product.
• Assist with bidding and estimating effort for future work.
• Maintain training documentation and provide training to less experienced staff members.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives.
• Establish and document new tools and techniques in daily processes.

Required Qualifications:

• College Diploma or University Degree in a related field.
• Minimum 3-5 years technical illustration experience.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Skillful with the Adobe Creative Cloud software.
• Proficient with Windows network environment and desktop office applications.
• Proficient communication, organization, and prioritization skills.
• Dedicated to teamwork, agile, and collaborative.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Unigraphics NX and Teamcenter or any 3D CAD modeling tools.
• Proficient with Adobe CC multimedia software such as Animate, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Substance, and applied understanding of illustrations and graphic content for multimedia such as animations, motion graphics, videos, and interactive applications.

The Technical Illustrator Specialist opening is a current vacant position at General Dynamics Land Systems – Canada. The base salary hiring range for this position is $67,200 to $84,000 per year. Once in the role, successful candidates will have the opportunity to progress through the full salary range based on performance. This range reflects the base salary only and does not include additional components of our total compensation package, such as our incentive award program and other rewards like health benefits, employee profit-sharing, retirement savings, and more.
