The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity to join General Dynamics as part of the Supply Chain Management team working within a group of over 120 supply chain professionals. The Supply Chain Management group is responsible for all procurement activity across domestic and international programs including material and service contracts across a diverse international base of suppliers, test sites, academic organizations and partners.



We are looking for a dynamic and professional General Procurement Manager to join our Leadership team, alongside three other Managers reporting directly to the Director of Supply Chain Management.


Your Role

The General Procurement Manager has responsibility for procurement of Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) and Build To Print (BTP) material manufactured to General Dynamics’ cutting edge designs.

In this role, you will lead three teams of buyers, analysts and specialists to ensure timely delivery of material, competitive pricing and onboarding of new suppliers that support our spectrum of production and spare parts contracts as well as other General Dynamics business units around the world.

Procurement Responsibility
  • Manage and support procurement activities to provide exceptional customer focused support to the organization
  • Ensure successes and problems are communicated with required stakeholders and the leadership team as required            
  • Participate in the development and monitoring of performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
  • Support and engage in Procurement Review Boards, and Supplier / Source selection decisions
  • Review and authorize high dollar value procurements
  • Interpret and apply Corporate and Divisional Supply Chain Management practices, policies and procedures, as well as specific customer flow down requirements

 

Position Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • University Degree in Supply Chain, Business or other related discipline
  • Relevant supply chain experience (preferably over 7 years)
  • Relevant management and leadership experience (preferably over 5 years)
  • Demonstrated high level of autonomous decision making ability, with excellent organizational, written and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers
  • Demonstrated ability to work multiple requirements, challenges and opportunities concurrently
  • Ability to travel as / if required (estimate 10% Cdn and 10% US/Int'l) and possess/ability to acquire and maintain a valid passport
  • Program management skills, qualifications or experience
  • Strong comfort level with technical language
