Parmerit is also a manufacturer of downstream equipment for companies producing extruded plastic pipe. The Adescor product line is now being engineered and manufactured at Parmerit’s plant in Strathroy, Ontario.

Role Purpose: The Assembly Leader is expected to take ownership / lead the assembly department. This candidate must be comfortable performing employee performance evaluations, identifying, developing & coaching high potential employees to deliver area results. This candidate would be responsible identifying & crafting department strategy & direction in alignment with business objectives. They must possess the capabilities to drive department requirements into development and continuous improvement initiatives for the delivering on the next future state.

Reports To: General Manager

Duties and Responsibilities:

General and Task Management

  • Responsible for developing 1-year vision/strategy of assembly area to deliver business objectives
  • Ensure achievement of production throughput against capacity targets.
  • Ensure the team are aware of day to day targets and responsibilities
  • Assist production control to plan production schedule as required and ensure it is being maintained to meet on time shipment of orders based on customer expectations
  • Improving the overall performance of your team through implementation of lean initiatives including standard work
  • Responsible to set, organize & lead kaizen events with a cross-functional team
  • Establish and maintain work standards for product costing and productivity measurement.
  • Accountable to develop area safety standards
  • Observe safety procedures and report any safety issues.
  • Carry out incident, accident and non-conformity investigations and associated reporting and action closure
  • Corrective action that leads to coaching / development
  • Identify and deploy the technical skill sets, resource levels and systems to deliver projects, key performance indicators (KPI’s) including the engagement of external resources as required
  • Regularly communicating with team members regarding issues impacting product, production, quality and safety across departments
  • Using problem solving techniques to analyze, find root cause and permanently correct problems related to all aspects of cell operation

Leadership

  • Create training matrix and help to facilitate new team member training
  • Build teams capability to help execute on business objectives
  • Support team to understand company vision and direction, ensure team alignment with company goals
  • Responsible for daily management and support for the team to achieve operational success
  • Craft personal development plans with team members
  • Provide growth & feedback points for personal development
  • Liaise and communicate with other departments and ensure an effective interface is maintained
  • Drive measures to improve production SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) within department

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a technical field
  • Strong leadership background and ability to coordinate and direct team efforts (Min. 5 years of experience in a leadership position)
  • Proven ability to work in manufacturing environment and perform against established performance standards
  • Ability to coach and mentor team members
  • Experience leading a team through a lean transformation - capable of organizing and driving 5S/Kaizen, etc. events and maintaining standards
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
