Summary

The Biosecurity Supervisor is responsible to supervise and lead the Biosecurity Team and coordinate resources to ensure they meet production targets and quality standards. The position reports to the Manager, Post-Harvest, and provides support in the planning, preparation, oversight, maintenance, and trouble-shooting issues of all biosecurity activities and equipment while ensuring compliance to Health Canada Cannabis Regulations and internal Health and Safety protocols. The Biosecurity Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the timely and thorough execution of biosecurity SOPs to properly ensure the sanitation of the facility and all required items contained within. Additionally, the incumbent will oversee the processes, performance and equipment related to destruction of cannabis waste.

Job Responsibilities

· Directly oversee work performed by assigned employees and address issues in real-time, escalate issues as needed

· Ensure that all biosecurity and destruction documentation is completed and filed in compliance with Health Canada regulations

· Establish and maintain vendor relationships with 3rd party cleaning companies to ensure biosecurity production targets are met, and the cleanliness of the entire facility is maintained as per Entourage standards

· Inspect and complete required documentation to approve grow rooms and post-harvest machines after cleaning, ensuring that all work meets Health Canada standards. Provide feedback and retraining as needed.

· Ensure biosecurity and destruction machines are in good working order, inspections are completed on time and provide support as needed. Communicate with facilities for the repair and maintenance of equipment as required.

· Develop, evaluate and update the Cleaning and Sanitation Procedure Manual to reflect changes in equipment design, new equipment, or changes in the cleaning process in collaboration with the Quality Assurance Department

· Train and re-train employees as needed to perform job-specific tasks

· Communicate the status of the schedule with Managers and flag risks to meeting deadlines. Problem-solve solutions to stay on track.

· Actively contribute to and engage in the continuous improvement process in relation to increased productivity and quality. Lead trials to collect, amalgamate and analyze data. Make recommendations as needed.

· Manage performance and complete performance reviews of assigned employees, providing regular feedback as well as coaching and disciplinary action when required

· Manage employee timesheets, time off requests, and arrange appropriate coverage as required to maintain production schedule

· Oversee daily both biosecurity and destruction employee performance, activities, workflow, and processes

· Manage conflict resolution through proper coaching conversations, documentation, and progressive discipline measures

· Participate in the candidate selection process, including interviewing and hiring decisions

· Ensure all personnel perform their work in accordance with Company policy and standard operating

· Leading by example, ensure all work done is performed in a safe and professional manner,

· Ensure work is done in compliance with current health and safety regulations and the employment standards act

· Manage respective departmental inventory and forecast inventory needs. Relay ordering information to Manager in a timely manner.

· Complete incident reports in an accurate and timely manner. Escalate issues accordingly.

· Other duties as assigned and assist in other departments as the business requires

Requirements

· High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

· Experience in a hygiene/sanitation focused environment preferred

· Familiarity with Health Canada regulations as pertaining to cannabis

· Computer skills including Microsoft Office, ERP experience considered an asset

· Able to take and give direction and follow all company policies/procedures.

· Maintain a positive outlook and willingness to learn and contribute to company success.

· Ability to lead a team of individuals and address any areas of concern with respect to performance or processes

· Ability to be flexible, remain resilient and adapt in high pressure situations.

· Demonstrated communication skills

· Knowledge of Health and Safety best practices, including the safe handling of chemicals

· Strong leadership skills with ability to foster a healthy, productive work environment.

· Ability to lift up to 50lbs and to stand, walk and sit for extended periods of time

· Criminal record check

· Flexibility in schedule as required by business needs, including weekend and afternoon shifts
