Position Summary

The Assistant Controller will be responsible ensuring accuracy in data and reporting, and compliance with established accounting standards and procedures, within PakFab. This position will interact closely with other internal team members as well as suppliers, and customers. For this role, there will be time sensitive processes and documents as well as confidentiality requirements. The Assistant Controller will be expected to prepare and consolidate financial statements, establish, and maintain internal controls, and assist the Controller with month-end and year-end processes, among other duties. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer or the designate.

 

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and consolidating financial statements
  • Establishing and maintaining internal controls
  • Managing all aspects of the general ledger
  • Providing monthly, quarterly, and year-end analyses
  • Coordinating or assisting with the budget process
  • Analytical analysis of cost changes
  • Support in the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements including working paper preparation, variance analysis and commentary
  • Internal and External reporting
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting
  • Expense tracking and analysis
  • Ledger Management, Reconciliations & Journal Entries
  • Assistance with the preparation of the year-end financial statement audit package requirements
  • Manage timeline to meet deadlines
  • Coordination with multiple departments
  • Complete special project work as required
  • Ad hoc Reporting Assistance
  • Researching accounting issues for compliance with accepted accounting principles
  • Analyzing and reporting cost variances
  • Serving as a liaison to external auditors
  • Supervising accounts receivable, accounts payable and general accounting departments

 

Requirements

  • Exceptional knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting etc.) and working towards or possess a recognized accounting designation (CPA)
  • Minimum 5-7 years general accounting experience
  • Computer skills (Working knowledge):
  • Microsoft products
  • Visual Basic (Preferred not required)
  • Demonstrates effective project management skills
  • Problem analysis and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Accomplished multi-tasker with the ability to work on cross-functional teams
  • Meticulous with strong analytical skills and a broad knowledge of the full accounting cycle
  • A strong analytical mindset
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Desire to work as a team with a result driven approach

 

Work Conditions

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer
  • Repetitive tasks such as looking at a computer monitor(s), typing, etc.
  • Safety equipment will be required, e.g., CSA approved steel-toed safety boots, etc. when on the shop floor
  • Hazards associated with an office environment

 

Salary: $80K-100K
